Linux knowledge

Linux kernel can't do anything alone. You needs to add software from GNU that together forms a basic working operating system with terminal window, compile and libraries for software development, and libraries used for runtime. GNU/Linux

On top of GNU/Linux are added many applications and tools, together we get the Linux distribution that are ready to be installed om your computer. Everything is free software that can do the same tasks like you see on other operating systems.

Linux Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu are a few operating systems that are easy to install and maintain. There are many other Linux distributions to select, but some of them are more difficult to install and update. There are also BSD, OpenSolaris, and others to select and use. Please go to the link to Distrowatch for a list of different operating systems you can download and use.
